Dr. Matthew Antkowiak is the co-founder of AtlasVet and has lived on Capitol Hill since 2000. He currently has one pet; his trusty "dog like cat" Atlas the Catless. Dr. Antkowiak is a graduate of the University of Minnesota (BS) in 1993 and the New York State College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University in 1997. Dr. Antkowiak was an emergency veterinarian for 15 years with SouthPaws Veterinary Specialists and Emergency Center. A member of the SouthPaws intern class of 1997-98, Dr. Antkowiak assumed leadership of the SouthPaws internship program in 2002 and was responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation, scheduling and selection of the new doctors to the program.
Dr. Antkowiak has traveled to Nicaragua, El Salvador and Mexico assisting in spay/neuter programs and teaching local veterinary students medical and surgical techniques in Spanish. Dr. Antkowiak loves to travel, cook and cultivates his own backyard and rooftop garden. He is passionate about his hometown Bills and Sabres, and is an avid Nationals and DC United supporter.
