Hospital FAQs
Where is AtlasVet located?
AtlasVet is located on the H Street Corridor NE and within the Atlas District. The address is 1326 H ST NE, Washington, DC 20002. We are directly across the street from the Atlas Performing Arts Center.
Does AtlasVet have parking?
Paid metered parking is available on H ST NE as well as non-metered free parking on the side streets. The side streets closest to AtlasVet to look for parking on are 12th St NE, I St NE, and G St NE. There is also common parking across Florida Ave NE, in the Trinidad neighborhood. Be sure to read the signs for which blocks are zoned, some say free parking for non-zone 5 or 6 stickers for 2 hours. We highly recommend downloading the Park Mobile app in advance to pay for metered parking. AV doesn’t have a parking lot, unfortunately.
Is AtlasVet accepting new patients?
AtlasVet is currently accepting new patients and clients. However, Dr. Miller and Dr. Antkowiak are not accepting new clients at this time.
Can I walk in without an appointment and wait to be seen by a doctor?
AtlasVet sees our patients by appointment only. We do sometimes have appointment availability same day. The best way to be seen same-day is to call us first thing in the morning for one of the open appointment slots or to possibly be seen as an urgent care appointment.
Does AtlasVet see other animals besides dogs and cats?
AtlasVet only provides veterinary care for dogs and cats. The closest exotic veterinary clinics in the area are:
Paws, Purrs, & Exotics Animal Hospital in Alexandria, VCA
Stahl Exotic Animal Veterinary Services in Fairfax, VA
PenderVet – multiple locations
Collins Animal Hospital – Washington, DC
Do I have to see a doctor for an exam in order to get medication, including preventatives?
If we have seen your pet in the past year for a physical exam with a doctor, we may be able to dispense medication or preventatives depending on the medication. If we have not seen your pet before, or your pet hasn’t had a physical exam with a doctor in the past year, we cannot dispense any medications. Some items are over-the-counter, however, so please call the front desk to see if the product you requesting can be dispensed.
Does AtlasVet offer any sort of financial assistance or offer payment plans?
Payment for services provided is due on the day the service is performed. Payment for medications and products is due when the medication is picked up. We do not currently offer payment plans. However, AtlasVet does accept CareCredit as a form of payment. CareCredit is a credit card that can only be used at medical or veterinary providers. AtlasVet offers CareCredit shorter-term financing options of 6 months. No interest is charged on purchases of $200 or more when you make the minimum monthly payments and pay the full amount due by the end of the promotional period. For more information, or to apply, visit CareCredit’s website – https://www.carecredit.com/ . What if my pet is exhibiting symptoms, but I’m not sure if I should Request an Appointment? Can I speak to a veterinarian to decide what to do?
Call us and a Client Service Advocate (CSA) or Veterinary Assistant can help you decide whether an appointment is necessary. Our Veterinarians are typically booked with back-to-back appointments and have limited time to perform client communications. One of our CSAs can relay messages to the doctors for you, but speaking directly to the doctor same-day may not be possible.
What should I do if my pet is having an emergency?
In the event of an emergency during our normal office hours, please call us at (202) 552-8600
We will see you for an urgent care appointment if we have an available doctor and it is in the best interest of your pet
or we may refer you to veterinary emergency hospitals in the area
